Music

Through performance based goals, music production, instrumental tuition and music theory, students will explore a wide variety of musical styles and skills. Music education develops character traits such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, patience, self-control, problem solving, and empathy. The overall goal in music class is for students to tap into their own creativity and explore music in a way that excites them. Periodical performances throughout the academic year gives students confidence and a goal to work towards.

Students will be given the option to learn guitar (classical/rock), ukulele, drums, bass, piano/keyboards, music theory, voice and music production. Students do not require previous knowledge of these instruments and can choose to pursue whichever one necessary to complete their ensemble/class.

The Smith School provides a modern learning environment with state of the art technology and recording equipment to maximize student creativity.
