This is my daughter’s third year at Smith School, and next year she will begin her fourth. Words fall short to express my gratitude to each and every person who has contributed to my daughter’s education and emotional well-being. After years of experiencing bullying at various schools, Smith School restored her confidence and desire to learn within a community. It is a healthy environment for everyone, with a loving and dedicated staff.
My daughter has been able to develop her incredible talent for singing and music. The music department is outstanding, and her teacher, Damien, is one of the best educators I have ever met. Thanks to him and Leah, they have created wonderful productions together with the students.
From the depths of my mommy heart, with profound love, I thank everyone for their dedication and commitment to each of the students who are part of the Smith School family.- Christie, Lele’s Mom

If it is determined that your child is a good fit for one of the 50 seats at The Smith School, please understand how very blessed you are. Unassuming but so impressive, this is a rare school with a rare team of professional stand-outs. A truly kind and thoughtful environment, based on responsiveness not reaction. The belief in the transformative ability of the right approach underpins everything at Smith. Teachers and administration here are dedicated to giving each child the optimum chance to be successful. After unhappy experiences at other schools, the faculty at Smith worked diligently to develop trust with my son, strategically building up his confidence and self-esteem, and encouraging him to be his best. My son is the happiest he has ever been at school. He has formed solid peer friendships - something with which he had always struggled before - and, owing to the engaging and approachable faculty, is provided with the structure and differentiation he needs to be successful. In a sea of educational so-so, Smith School is exemplary and is truly exceptional.

My daughter came to the U.S. from Colombia at age 11 as an English Language learner, with hardly any education and with special needs. After being in a public middle school and falling through the cracks, I knew she needed much more support. Several private special ed schools rejected her because they couldn't handle the intricacies of her situation and she didn't fit into their "box". Thankfully, The Smith School said that they felt they could help her. Their small classes and attention paid to each student's needs is remarkable. I didn't think that college was in the cards for her but today she is a freshman at Fairleigh Dickinson. A true success story! I am so thankful to all the people at The Smith School who worked with her and contributed to where she is today.

"I can’t express strongly enough how life-changing the Smith School has been for our son — and truly, for our whole family. If you’re a parent searching for a place where your child will be understood, supported, and genuinely celebrated, the Smith School is exactly where you want them to be.
Before coming to Smith, our son struggled in public school. He was misunderstood, mis-categorized, and even bullied. The system didn’t recognize his unique way of learning, and instead of helping him thrive, they placed him in “special-ed” classes that never reflected his true potential.
But the moment he walked through the doors of the Smith School, everything changed.
At Smith, his academic strengths and social needs were not only recognized — they were nurtured with compassion, professionalism, and true expertise. His grades soared from Ds and Fs to As and Bs, and just as importantly, he found real friends and a supportive community. He learned how to navigate high school successfully while embracing his neurodivergence, rather than being punished or dismissed for it.
Every single teacher he had was exceptionally caring, dedicated, and encouraging. They saw him. They listened to him. They believed in him — and because of that, he learned to believe in himself.
Our experience with the Smith School has been nothing short of extraordinary. If you want a school that will champion your child as a whole person, send them to Smith. It was the best decision we ever made.
