Middle School English

In Middle School English Language Arts, students engage in literary studies to make them better readers, writers, communicators, and citizens. Guided by Bloom’s Taxonomy, ELA educates students of different backgrounds from all over New York City and is ready to work with them on a rolling admission basis. Focusing on grammar, spelling, different writing styles across genres, and an etymological approach to vocabulary, students engage in cultivating literacy skills with measurable results. By taking an individualized approach, students of different backgrounds and learning styles are accommodated yet challenged. With authentic assessments that accurately measure progress and learning, every student in ELA gets attention to further develop command of the English language. By the end of Middle School, students are ready for the rigors of high school and beyond, all the while instilling a lifelong love of learning.

Novel study may include: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.
