The Smith School.
Small School. Big Heart.
We believe in the essential value of alternative education, and in our consequent responsibility to adapt, to respond, to innovate, and to be flexible, in addressing the needs of our students and their families. We believe in a school environment that is, and that students know to be, safe, structured, fair, and exclusively dedicated to education.
The University of The State of New York
The Smith School admits students of any race, religion, ethnicity, and economic status without bias or prejudice. The school also admits students with physical, emotional, and learning issues. The admissions process at The Smith School begins with our downloadable Application Form. While no entrance examination is required, students may be asked to complete an assessment test in order to determine optimal placement.
Parent participation is a critical component in every child’s education. The Smith School encourages parents to be involved in several areas: Parent/Teacher conferences, Day-to-day involvement in at-home assignments, Periodic review of student’s progress, and On-on-one communication with teachers and school administrators.
Alumni of The Smith School are welcome to participate at school functions. They are also encouraged to keep in touch and take advantage of opportunities to support the school. On occasion they come to the school to share their college experiences with the students.
